PuyoGB League Season 2 Announced – Start Dates and Tables

After having discussions with the Adjudication team, PuyoGB is proud to announce that the final rubric for Season 2 of the PuyoGB League has been decided, including handling the new entrants that have signed-up to the PuyoGB League to go alongside those who completed Season 1. The new entrants were assorted into their leagues based on their online rating and rank on Puyo Puyo Tetris as best as we could determine. Those with a higher rating but a lower rank were treated the same as those with a lower rating but a higher rank, allowing for balance across all 15 ranks in Puyo Puyo Tetris. No player entering the League had a rating higher than 18000.

The finalised rubric is as follows:

  1. Each PuyoGB League match will be a FT10 point match, effectively killing off the Draw. These games are no longer timed. Bonus Points will still be awarded to players who win their fixture by three or more matches.
    – Players using Puyo Puyo eSports on Switch can set the room up to FT10.
    – Players using Puyo Puyo Tetris must set their game-up as single-set matches, but play until someone has won 10 matches (as before).
  2. Players are free to choose either Puyo or Tetris for their match, but cannot change their game mode during the match once they’ve selected.
    – If two players who own Puyo Puyo eSports wish to play Puyo only, we encourage players to use that game. Please stick to Classic rules though as in-keeping with the League format.
  3. Players are welcome to stream their matches but must save the VODs. An adjudicator will then verify that the match is valid. Adjudicators do have priority in governing matches as before, but players now have more freedom.
    – Any matches governed by an adjudicator will be uploaded to the PuyoGB YouTube Channel.
    – If the content is to feature on the PuyoGB YouTube Channel, we ask that the games played feature no modifications of any kind just so that we present the games as they are packaged. For PPe, this also includes the use of Chroma-key backgrounds.
  4. Matches will take place during a two-week window, with the original times on Saturday’s and Sunday’s still to take place in a two-hour window between 7pm and 9pm, as this worked well for players during Season 1.
    – If players wish to play their matches throughout the week, we encourage you to do so. If you can’t get an adjudicator but can save the VOD, pass on the link to the adjudicator to verify that the match is legal.
  5. The Beginner League will be the first league played, followed by the Intermediate League, and the Pro League. The play-off matches will be the last matches played.
  6. If there are any matches left unplayed, they will be abolished. As each player has effectively 14 days to play 11 matches, this should be plenty of time to complete their fixtures. Playing three a day on each of the weekend days should also suffice.
  7. If there’s a version mismatch, the match is considered a no-contest. We will not penalise either player for this.

Whoever finishes last in the Pro League will automatically be relegated to the Intermediate League, with second-from-bottom having to play a play-off match against second place in the Intermediate League.

The Play-off matches will take place on Saturday 20th April from 7pm, and will be adjudicated by Kei. These will be FT10 matches, and the outcome of the result will determine if players swap from one League tier to another.

Good luck to everyone who has entered in this year’s League!
