Happy Birthday PuyoGB!

This week in particular is a celebratory week for PuyoGB as a whole as we mark our maiden anniversary.

The Twitter page was founded on the 22nd of October 2017 as the basis of giving the community an identity. The Discord server was launched live during that same time, acting as the official platform of communication for events and competitions in the UK. The PuyoGB website was founded on the 27th of October 2017, and acts as a gateway to what we do as a community. We have a team of writers for the blog that contribute game news, PuyoGB events, and the history of Puyo Puyo through the Puyo Museum articles.

PuyoGB as a community has been the brainchild of BlueHairKei since he was a member of the Puyo Puyo Museum, realised through the joint potential of some prominent UK players such as Wizzkidwas, Super302, Woomy and Gecko, and the localisation efforts of Puyo Puyo Tetris. Since the initial founding we have garnered support from other communities such as NGI (through Niiro), and received official endorsement from Sega Europe in February 2018. To date, PuyoGB has around 100 British Players within its community, ran five successful offline events, been invited to an official Sega event, and has ran both an offline esports league through Esports Scotland, and completed an online league in the form of the PuyoGB League.

We did a podcast with some of the main names here. Feel free to listen and enjoy:

As we look ahead, we are ambitious in continuing to grow. We are actively looking at areas to bring our community closer together, especially through the power of our offline events. We are actively looking to network with other people to help promote the game and bring it to a mainstream audience, ensuring we continue our quest to turn this magnificent puzzle game into an esport.

If you would like to be part of our journey, here’s how to join us:
Follow us on Twitter: @PuyoPuyoGB.

I’d like to thank everyone who has been part of our journey so far, and hope that you stay with us as we continue to grow and flourish.

Here’s to the future!
